Midnight Walk

Context

Barnsley Hospice is a brilliant charity which specialises in providing specialist palliative care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Staff work incredibly hard at putting on fundraising events and opportunities throughout the year, and the money raised is a lifeline to the Hospice.

The Brief

2016 marked the 10th Midnight Walk fundraising event and the Hospice wanted to make it one to remember! we were approached us to design a special character and build an event pack of promotional material around it. We were up for the challenge!

The Concept

Each year the Midnight Walk takes on a different wacky and wonderful theme, and for the 10th anniversary it was the turn of the swinging sixties. The walk is for women only so the Hospice wanted us to create an empowering female character who was the epitome of the 60’s — think groovy, think flower power!

The Result

Script designed a core character with a range of different hair colours, dress design and accessories for the Hospice to choose from. They picked their perfect combo and once the final character was settled on the Hospice’s head fundraiser, Sue Miller was pretty pleased; "This is definitely what I wanted - I love it!!”

We brought the character to life in a short animation for use online and on social media. The event pack included the animation, the design of a flyer and donation form, a poster, and a digital advert.

For 2017 the theme was 'One Night in a Onesie' so we produced the adorable character in her bedtime get up with teddy and pillow in hand.
