Light Up A Life

Context

Every Christmas, Barnsley Hospice invites local people to sponsor lights in memory of loved ones as part of their Light up a Life campaign. The dedicated lights are displayed on Christmas trees throughout the festive season and at special Light up a Life services to remember those who the lights shine for. The money raised allows The Hospice to continue raising vital funds to support local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

The Brief

Light up a Life is a big campaign for the Barnsley Hospice, for their 2016 event they approached us requesting a whole new look. They wanted the look to be modern, clean and reflect the festive season whilst encompassing the heart of what the campaign aims to achieve.

The Concept

Our designer Laura wrote a short verse for the artwork: "Shine a light to brighten up the sky. Remember a loved one and celebrate their life." Using a minimal colour scheme and simplistic design, she built a tree around the words using a collection of stars, spheres and snowflakes. We wanted this to be the visual focus of the campaign, so the rest of the artwork was kept simplistic to draw the eye to that main message.

The Result

The Hospice loved the new look. It has been promoted across social media, local print media and around Barnsley.
